I have needs, DAMMIT.
Right now my needs come in the form of the Wolfgang Puck 9th Anniversary 32-Piece Cookware Set. Cookware set of beauty!
I do a lot of cooking now that I am living with the Man. I enjoy it ‘cause he likes (just about) everything I make; he’s easy. I can finally put my culinary school learnings and knife skills to good use.
So now I’m coveting this set I found on Overstock.com for $299.99, which is a whole $200.00 less than MSRP.
It comes with wholly unnecessary items, like wine stoppers (3!), wine stopper stand and a wine chiller. Also, it has a 5-piece wine opening thingy. I’d drink more wine if I had this set, which may not be a good thing ‘cause how much cooking would I get done if I was wine’d up? It also has a snazzy tea pot – I’d drink more tea – and each pot has its own lid. Nothing I hate more than a lid-sharing set. But, it only has 2 pans. That’s something I’d overlook because I’ve decided to cultivate a collection of cast iron pans because they are my favorite type of pan to cook in. And they are heavier than Carnie Wilson, so they double as weapons. One of the pans IS an omelet pan, and cooking an omelet in a cast iron pan is not doable by me, and both pans come with their own lids as well. Decent.
But, I’d never buy the set because, I don’t drop $300 on nothing and I’d want to touch and fondle it. You learn a lot about cookware by fondling: thin handles, thin bottoms, too light. I need a pan with heft. Oh well. I covet from the sidelines.
